Yokai
I created a series of twenty-eight drawings of creatures and beings from Japanese folklore. Produced using ink on paper. Sakura Pigma and Pentel brush pens were used for the line work. Colours were applied using a variety of methods, from blotting to wiping using cotton pads, buds and Winsor & Newton Promarkers.
I had great fun exploring both ancient Japanese folktales and urban myths through this series of Yokai drawings. I shared all my work through social media, and researched the stories, fears and mysteries behind each monster.
